Homemade Cards: Night Velvet and Early Morning Tenderness

Our warmest wishes to all our readers on the first day of spring! And today we are starting a new project of the "Parents' ideas": "Homemade Cards and Gifts – Unique Ideas Every Day!" Until March 8, each day, we will share with you new ideas of cards.

All the cards which we will introduce in this project have been made by us, Anastasia and Natalie (often with the help of our little kids ). And for each of the cards we've tried to think of some little gift which suits the colours and style of the cards.

Homemade Cards

The main idea of this card is its composition. Mainly thanks to it, the aura

of tenderness is created. The choice of materials for the card is also important: velvet paper goes with baking paper.

So, what will you need if you decide to make such a card:

• white paper like the one for watecolours;
• dark blue (background) and yellow (middle of the flowers) velvet paper;
• baking paper (for the petals): the pattern on it is created with the help of finger paints and a paint roller (read about this technique in “Homemade Wrapping Paper");
• golden threads (like the ones which are sold with Christmas tree balls).
• glue, a ruler, a pencil and scissors.

Homemade Gifts

What gift can be given with such a card? Something with a flower pattern.

For example, it can be a candle decorated by you.

The flowers on the candle are images cut out from a napkin and transferred to the candle in decoupage technique.

Materials you'll need:

• a candel;
• a napkin with some pattern;
• one more candle – to be lit;
• a tea-spoon.

Step 1:

Separate the upper layer of the napkin (the one with the picture). Cut out the image. Place it on the candle.

Step 2:

Light the other candle and warm a tea-spoon above the fire (its inner, concave, part) – about 1-2 mins.

Step 3:

With the edge of the outer part of the tea-spoon carefully smooth the image down on the first candle. Press lightly, otherwise the wax will melt too much.
